U of U Hospital – South Jordan Health Center

121 days ago95 views
University of Utah health care is well known around the state for having the latest technology and some of the best doctors in the country. The new South Jordan Health Center located at 5126 West Daybreak Parkway brings this same commitment to health to the south end of the valley. This isn’t just a clinic with a few doctors. This facility is equipped to receive patients for a variety of reasons, from a visit to a primary care doctor to seeing a specialist.

“We wanted to bring the same care people receive at the University Hospital to a neighborhood setting,” Administrative Director Michael Bronson says. “We offer a broad spectrum of services that people might not realize. We have so much under one roof, and that’s a huge benefit for our patients.”

One thing that makes this facility different is the care that went into designing the building in a way that doctors can work together to provide the best care for patients. If someone comes in for a broken arm, they can get x-rays and have the results back to their doctor to discuss them the same day. The doctor can then be able to come up with a treatment plan and if more help is needed, direct the patient in house to a specialist.

The South Jordan Health Center offers a wide variety of specialties which includes a physical therapy center. Michael says the idea of having everything in the same place was to create an environment where doctors can collaborate face to face and have real time treatment plans. The end result for patients is a convenient and comprehensive experience.

Primary care patients can be seen at the center with an appointment or on a walk in basis from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The South Jordan Health Center has an emergency room that is open 24/7. The other specialties in the center have different hours and patients are encouraged to call to find out more information.

Children who need to have a CT scan can also be seen at the South Jordan Health Center. Michael says the center is equipped with the latest imaging technology that isn’t available at the University Hospital yet. Parents can bring their children in for a flash CT scan, which is not only fast, but also offers the lowest dose of radiation possible for this kind of procedure.

“This new facility makes it more convenient for people to be seen and treated in their neighborhood,” he says. When patients walk in to the facility, they are met by a guest relations specialist who is with them throughout their stay. Patients are assisted with check-in, paying co-payments and making sure they don’t have to wait too long. Guest relations will help patients get food, reschedule an appointment if necessary and try to make the experience of seeing a doctor as pleasant as they can.

“We are trying to put the human experience back into going to the doctor,” Michael says.
