Elementary Service Project

Students from Robert Frost Elementary work together to create scarves the school donated to The Road Home homeless shelter in December. More than 60 sixth graders participated in this year’s project. The children are taught how to weave the scarves and spend several months turning donated yarn into scarves. In December, the school uses the scarves and other donated items like hats and gloves, to decorate a Christmas tree at the school. Principal Dona Harris said the project teaches the students about giving to people who are in need. Making the scarves gives the children a sense of accomplishment because they are donating something they made to someone who can use it.
