For people who enjoy an active lifestyle, it’s almost impossible to avoid injury. Although staying healthy, keeping muscles strong and joints loose will lessen the chance of damage, injuries can still occur. Many people don’t take joint pain seriously, but if you’re experiencing pain in the knee or shoulder, take some time to schedule an appointment with Dr. Wade M. Sessions, MD, at the Center of Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Excellence and get feeling better soon.
Dr. Sessions specializes in diagnosing and treating all conditions of the shoulder and knees, and utilizes a variety of treatments to help patients recover quickly.
“When possible, I use less-invasive procedures,” he says. “We try to employ the latest proven technology so we stay current with evolving trends.”
Although Dr. Sessions is an orthopedic surgeon, he uses surgery only as a last resort. He will incorporate other treatments including medication, injections, physical therapy and specific exercises before resorting to surgery. He works with people suffering from rotator cuff injuries, shoulder impingement, anterior knee pain, fractures and meniscal tears. Dr. Sessions is proficient at cartilage repair, transplantation, joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery.
Most patients that come to see Dr. Sessions are young and active, but he works with patients of all ages, from children to the elderly.
“One thing we see a lot of is the weekend warrior, when people try to play at a high level, like they’re 20, when they’re 40,” Dr. Sessions says.
Located at 3584 West 9000 South, Suite 405, the Center of Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Excellence is in a great location for people on the south end of the Wasatch Front. Dr. Sessions’ office is open on Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. For more information, call 801-568-3480 or visit www.coremds.com.
Dr. Sessions served in the U.S Army Special Forces and received his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. He also completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the same university.
Sports organizations, including the Utah Grizzlies, Riverton High School and Lowland Rugby, employ Dr. Sessions as an orthopedic physician. He was recognized as one of the country’s top orthopedists in 2009 and 2010.
“My main goal is to try to restore the functionality so they can get back to what they want to do,” he says.
Many people put up with joint injuries, thinking the symptoms will go away and the joint will heal itself. But Dr. Sessions says if pain persists for more than two weeks or if there’s swelling in the area, it’s time to schedule an appointment.
“We offer excellent treatments and we’re very accessible in that we can work on you quickly and not make you wait a long time to be seen,” he says. “We’re very efficient and don’t want to waste your time. We have a great respect for our patients.”
