Do you like to write? Need some extra cash?

The Valley Journals are looking for a few motivated individuals interested in the community who have always thought covering the news would be an awesome job. Good initiative skills and a willingness to learn on the fly are required.

We have immediate openings in the Millcreek, West Jordan and Taylorsville/Kearns Journals, all for government beats covering city councils or community councils. There is also an education beat opening in Millcreek. All positions require attendance at one daytime staff meeting a month, and government beats require attendance at council meetings as well.

Newspaper experience is not necessary, just a commitment to hard work and follow-through and a strong desire to learn. The positions pay $9 an hour with a very flexible schedule.

We offer training and orientation sessions, but we’re really looking for self-starters who can get out there and get the job done without a lot of hand holding. Do not apply unless you have good computer and writing skills. You’ll be wasting your time and ours.

If you’re interested, don’t wait to become a part of Utah’s largest circulation and fastest growing newspapers – our need is immediate. Send your resume and two writing samples today via e-mail to linda@valleyjournals.com.
